Technical details

Why is this important?

The digital carbon footprint is one of the most pressing issues in decarbonization, accounting for 6% of global carbon emissions and growing at a double-digit rate. By 2030, this could reach 20%. With over 40 billion digital products in circulation, terminal production alone constitutes 80% of the total digital impact. Despite the crucial impact of this sector, only 17% of all end-of-life devices are effectively collected, and less than 5% are refurbished.

Why does this project need financial support?

Financial support is crucial for Ecodair to train labor for refurbishing digital products and to expand its operations, including implementing new processes. Carbon credits provide the necessary funding to achieve these goals, ensuring Ecodair can continue its valuable work in reducing the environmental impact of digital devices while creating meaningful employment opportunities. The aim is to double their capacity within five years thanks to carbon credit support.

What is unique with this project?

The most social project you can find in the circular economy! Ecodair is an ESUS company ("Entreprise Solidaire d'Utilité Sociale"), meaning all the revenue has to be used to fulfill the mission of the company, with very strict requirements. Ecodair has developed several "Entreprises adaptées" and "Chantiers de réinsertion" to help disabled persons and people who were on the margins of a classic work life reintegrate into society through work.
