This reforestation and sustainable forestry project combines 4,000 ha (and rising) of plantations and 2,000 ha of native vegetation under conservation. It is located in the Meta, a region of Colombia historically affected by high deforestation rates, mostly due to conversion to pasture land. This initiative is therefore generating high benefits across several dimensions, including land restoration/regeneration, biodiversity and carbon sequestration. The project has also created 100+ net jobs in a region affected by high poverty levels, contributing to the socio-economic development of the area. The project also includes a beekeeping component (over 50 tons of honey are produced every year) with strong and positive links to the neighbouring biodiversity.
