Project Highlights
Project Description
Carbon Neutral Australia (CNA), a recognized charity under Australia's Emission Reduction Fund, has been at the forefront of habitat restoration and biodiverse reforestation projects in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor for over 20 years. As an offsets entity, CNA has developed the Biodiverse Reforestation Carbon Offsets (BRCOs) methodology, ensuring sustainable practices in tree planting, land management, and offset tracking. The BRCOs sequester a substantial 120 to 180 tonnes of CO2 per hectare over 50 years, a conservative estimate reflecting the commitment to long-term carbon sequestration. Each site undergoes independent monitoring and reporting for health, survival, and carbon storage at least twice in the initial five years, ensuring the efficacy of the reforestation efforts. To meet immediate carbon neutrality claims, Carbon Neutral independently pairs each BRCO with an international carbon credit from a Climate Active-compliant project. These projects, approved by the UN Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), provide additional emissions abatement globally. Purchasing Australian BRCOs not only supports the improvement of the local degraded environment but also contributes to global emissions reduction through the paired UN CDM credit. This dual approach aligns with CNA's commitment to holistic environmental impact and sustainability.
